RS-Powered T6 Camper Takes Another Win at Dubs at the Beach
RS T6 Campervan Wins Again at Dubs at the Beach
What a weekend down in Paignton! We took our fully built RS-powered VW T6 to Dubs at the Beach today and brought home another trophy.
It’s always a cracking show, full of epic builds, passionate owners, and proper VW community vibes. And for us, being recognised again for the hours poured into this van? It means the world.
Marmite on Wheels
This van? It’s a bit like Marmite. Some people just don’t get it. Others absolutely love it.
We’ve heard it all:
“You can’t go fast while you’re camping!” — maybe not, but we can definitely get there fast.
“What’s the point? It’s a van, not a race car…” — that’s true. But this isn’t just any van.
It’s one of a kind.
Why We Built It
This was always the dream build. We started with a high-mileage, ex-farrier’s van that most people wouldn’t look twice at. But with some vision, a ton of work, and help from some brilliant people, we turned it into something wild.
Why do it? Because we could. Because we wanted to push boundaries and show what’s possible. At Colebrook Transporters, we don’t just follow the rulebook — we rewrite it.
The Heart of the Build
Under the bonnet, it’s running a fully rebuilt Audi RS3 2.5L TFSI engine. Internally, it’s been upgraded with JE forged pistons, Bartek H-beam rods, ACL bearings, and a ported and polished head with uprated valve train. ARP fasteners hold it all together.
Boost is delivered via a Pulsar G35-1050 full-frame turbo on a custom manifold, paired with a 50mm external wastegate, all pushing 35 PSI. The fuel system is just as serious, with 1000cc port injectors, Bosch Motorsport direct injection, and a 1000cc water-meth setup running 100% methanol. It all runs on 99-octane pump fuel, making it both savage and road-friendly.
The intake has been completely reworked too. We’ve kept the OE plenum but modified it with O-rings, swirl flap deletes, and ported runners to match the head work. We’ve also added five injector ports, a Forge elbow, and a Forge dump valve. Cooling is handled by a Forge T6 TDI front mount intercooler.
All of it is controlled by a Syvecs standalone ECU, custom mapped with integrated water-methanol control. Power-wise? It’s still running in, but we’re estimating between 850 and 950bhp on the road, with future plans to exceed the 1000 mark.
Drivetrain, Transmission, and Power Delivery
The van runs a hybrid RS3 and T6 4Motion setup, including a commercial DQ500 DSG gearbox upgraded with a heavy-duty clutch setup rated to 1400Nm. It’s had a full TCU Stage 3 tune, torque limiters removed, and maximum clamping pressure enabled. The result is crisp, rapid shifts even under serious load — exactly how we like it.
Handling, Chassis and Braking
It’s riding on full max-load air suspension, with every steering and suspension bush swapped out for uprated Powerflex components. The front and rear chassis have been trimmed and modified to allow it to air out completely, and we’ve raised the subframe 40mm to retain solid geometry.
Stopping power comes from 405mm floating front discs, large six-pot calipers and EBC pads. At the rear, we’ve converted to 380mm discs while retaining the original calipers. It’s all connected via HEL braided brake lines front and rear.
Wheels, Tyres, and Looks
We’ve fitted 20-inch Supermetal Charger wheels, wrapped in 255/35/20 Pirelli tyres. They give it the grip it needs to stay planted, with just the right look to match the aggressive stance.
Inside the Vanlife Side
Despite the spec, this is still a true camper. It features a lightweight U-shape seating area that folds into a bed, a fully equipped kitchen, and a Reimo pop-top roof with its own lightweight bed system. Power comes from a full Victron off-grid setup, including dual lithium batteries and 200 watts of solar on the roof.
Another Show, Another Win
Thanks to everyone who came to check out the van at Dubs at the Beach today. The support, questions, and positive vibes really made the day.
Big thanks too to the event organisers for another awesome year.
